More than a Dream

Description

More than a Dream is sort of a compilation album by the British born poet and singer/songwriter Steve Scott, independently released on Glow Records in 1997, in co-operation with RadRockers (Mike Delaney). Produced by Slack Shankar (a.k.a. Steve Scott and Sean Farrington). The album features newly recorded versions of various Steve Scott penned songs including previously unrecorded material, like some of the songs originally intended for the unreleased album Moving Pictures. These are newer recordings of those songs – the back cover says “All New Recordings – Recorded 1997.”

Track by track notes by Steve Scott included in the liner notes of this CD:

More Than a Dream – Background chorus vox by Gary Landaker and Jason Greer. This song originally written and recorded as a rock song for the Moving Pictures project. Covered in that style by Larry Norman on one of his European albums.

Ghost Train – Slide guitar by Steve. Previous version of this song can be found on Lost Horizon and Magnificent Obsession.

Different Kind of Light – Rescue attempt and valiant mix damage by Sean. A Moving Pictures song, covered by The Seventy Sevens on Ping Pong and Echoes ‘O Faith.

The Sound of Waves – Slide guitar by Steve. A version of this song is on the Lost Horizon CD.

A Selection From ‘Margins’ – An Empty Orchestra remix with vocals.

Chapel of Stone – With thanks to Ralph Stover for the translation. Another ghost from the Moving Pictures project.

Walking on Water Wasn’t Built in a Day – Slack Shankar with too much time on his hands? The only thing missing is the 3D glasses. Original version found on Love in the Western World.

Delta RemixEmpty Orchestra remix #2. You know the drill… no driving or operating heavy machinery while listening.

The Descending of the Dove – Tin whistles by Steve. BGV’s by Steve and Tracy, including the ‘one in every crowd’ out of tune guy at the back of the room who sings too loud.

Put Your Hand to the Plow – Slide guitar by Steve.

Jubilee – Becca’s Peruvian wooden flute played by Steve. Children’s voices c/o the chidcare at the Thursday Morning Bible Studio.

Come Back Soon – Mark Tootle emphatically denies all knowledge of who played piano on this track. It wasn’t him, he says, and woe betide to anyone who is caught saying, or even thinking differently. Jason and Gary did the clapping at the end. A version of this song was recorded for the Moving Pictures album. It is also featured on the Come Back Soon album, and a demo made it onto the Magnificent Obsession CD.
