glo.bal

Description

glo.bal is the fourth full-length album by the British rock band Split Level, released on Organic Records in 1997, a sub-label of the US based indie label Pamplin Music. (Released in both Europe and the US, featuring different cover artwork.) The album was produced by Rick Elias.

There are moments when Godly inspiration, human perspiration and genuine skill collide in a fusion of musical excellence and satisfaction, ‘glo.bal’ is one of these moments. Adjust your mindset, remove your preconceptions, this is Split Level at their brand new, excellent best. Tight, raw, yet commercial, this album is set to rocket the band in CCM bigtime and beyond. Already, the Nashville musical cognoscenti are twitching with excitement. Not surprising when you hear 11 tracks of profound and passionate quality. Take it from me, the band have grown up both musically and spiritually. From the doubting vulnerability of «Twister» to the provocatively challenging «Did You Get Healed», this is an album that challenges our evangelical presumptions. Produced by Rick Elias, the familiar stadium rock sound is subtly replaced by a more alternative, yet accessible, guitar edged sound while engineer Russ Long, who worked with Guardian, the Newsboys and DC Talk, guarantees a rough, raw musical balance. And, throughout this 11-track gem, the bass-driven rhythm mix keeps on poling you in the centre of your musical gut. An excellent album that could crossover into the mainstream and make a real impact for God. [Steve Cox, Cross Rhythms, April 1997]
