Wish Me Love

Description

Wish Me Love is the sophomore album by the American singer and songwriter Nicole (a.k.a. Nicole C. Mullen), released on Frontline Records in ‎1992. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed by Mark Keefner and Randy Waldman.

‘Wish Me Love’ is the set of glossy dance/pop feistiness and R&B based balladry Nicole strongly hinted at last year in ‘Don’t Let Me Go’.

Though more soulful than Janet Jackson, Nicole’s grasp of hooks ‘n’ grooves on numbers like «Mircales» and «Part of Amazing Grace» hold true to Ms. Jackson’s sensibilities. More demure divas like Lisa Taylor and Melissa Morgan share Nicole’s soft soul vocal approach in beat and «Over And Over» and the closing dedication to an always-forgiving God, «Arms Still Open».

Elsewhere throughout ‘Wish Me Love’, a lyrical theme of reconciliation and contentment in numbers like the title track and «Home» vies with edgier, uptempo dance jams like «Mama Say No» and «Curiosity». The faster tunes serve as warnings against the situations they detail; one gets the feeling Nicole lived through the betrayals of trust she describes.

This is personalized pop product ripe for both club remixing and radio-ready singles’ play. That’s not just Christian radio, compadres. Nicole may want you to wish her love, but the lady will get hits. [Jamie Lee Rake, CCM, September 1992]
