Evie

Description

The self-titled album by the Norwegian-American singer Evie (Evie Tornquist Karlsson) was released on Word Records in 1974. The album was arranged and conducted by the young Swedish producer Lennart Sjöholm of New Creation fame (one of the first Christian rock bands in Sweden, also featuring singer-songwriter Pelle Karlsson on lead vocals, later to become the husband of Evie). Featuring a cover of “Sweet Sweet Song Of Salvation”, a song written by Larry Norman and recorded on his solo debut album released in 1969, Upon This Rock. Also featuring two songs by Andrae Crouch, “My Tribute” and “The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power“.

Though Evie at the age of 18 already had recorded five albums, many of them released in Scandinavia, this was her first album on a major label in the US, Word Records. Born in the United States to Norwegian immigrants in 1956, Evie began her singing career as a young teenager while visiting her parents’ homeland. She first appeared on a live broadcasting at NRK (the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation), only 14 years old.
