Description

Beautiful is the sophomore album by the American alternative rock band The Walter Eugenes (Walter Paul Robinette and Rick Eugene May), released on StarSong Records ‎in March 1995. The album was recorded by Dave Perkins at his Garden of Eden in Nashville, Tennessee; with Perkins and Lynn Nichols producing, both of Chagall Guavara fame. Mixed by David Schober with Nichols and Perkins at Battery Studio in Nashville.

Out for months but somehow slipping through the Cross Rhythms net Walter Paul Robinette and Rick Eugene May have come on leaps and bounds from their album debut. With ex-Chagall Guavara men Dave Perkins and Lynn Nichols producing (and playing guitars) on this set its full of moody, aggressively astringent rhythms, some nice grungey moments with Mr Robinette wheezing and hollering surprisingly catchy song. Lyrics are a tad oblique but that’s their thing. Recommended. [Tony Cummings, Cross Rhythms, October 1995]
