Description

Testimony is an album by the American folk duo Tom & Sherry Green, self-released on Big Rock in 1974. All songs written by Tom and/or Sherry Green except track A5 co-written by Tom Green and R.L. King, Jr.

Featuring Tom Green on vocals and lead guitar, Sherry Green on vocals and guitar, Judy Bradford on piano, Charlie Castleberry on string bass, Kingfish on electric bass and harmony vocals, and Ron Kissack on drums.

Biker guy and wife’s praiseworthy custom of unplugged folk and blues. Opens with Tom rapping through his «Testimony» in Johnny Cash tradition, recounting his transition from “pervert to convert” to a rockabilly beat. Next up is the scruffy harmonica-backed acoustic «Thank You Lord Blues». Most of the time, however, it’s Sherry in the vocal spotlight on melodic folk ballads like «Jesus Take My Sins Away», «My God Is A God Of Miracles», «Sing And Praise You» and «Most Incredible Child», all nicely done. Some good lead acoustic guitar work from Tom, especially on the bluesy «Speak To Me Jesus». Front cover has a drawing of Tom with his shades on astride his motorcycle, along with the lyrics to the title track. Pencil sketch of the duo on the back. Custom label out of Wichita, Kansas.
