Description
Trust is the debut album by the American soul/R&B combo Jubal, independently released on Wheat Records in 1977. The album was recorded by Robert Dennis and Greg Reilly at Holland-Dozier-Holland and Pro Sound Studios in Detroit, Michigan (“Recorded by Superdisc at Holland-Dozier-Holland & Pro Sound Studios”); with Reilly and Rufus Harris Jr. producing for Gregory Paul Productions. Mixed by Reilly and Harris Jr.
Soulful R&B joins hands with the organ-drenched Latin percussion FM rock style of Santana on this dandy Detroit independent release. Peppy energetic tunes, a couple with crisp horn arrangements. Fuzz guitar is proudly represented with charged solos on «Changed Man», «Be All You Can», «Loser» and the title track. Some nice ballads as well, like the acoustic-laced «Psalm 57». Seven folks total in this male/female mostly African-American group, though several others are listed in the credits. Nice sharp production along with striking cover art. They released a second album in 1982 called Onward. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
