Good Seed – Self-titled album

Description

The self-titled album by the American country-rock combo Good Seed was released on Almond Tree Records in 1973, manufactured by Custom Fidelity Company and distributed by Seedling Records. The album was recorded and mixed by Mark Hood at Gilfoy Sound in Bloomington, Indiana; with band member Greg Anderson producing.

Good Seed features Greg Anderson (saxophones, piano, bass, vocals), Rich Gootee (fiddle, acoustic guitar, piano, vocals), Jeff Tyler (acoustic guitar, banjo, vocals), and Rick Panyard (acoustic guitar, piano, vocals). The album also features Steve Rudolph on piano, trumpets and flutes, Jim Moore on steel guitar, Chris Browning on lead guitar, and Doug Adams on drums.

Liken Selah and Pressed Down Shaken Together & Running Over, Good Seed was another rock band tied to The Way International. With their horses and Western garb it should come as no surprise that these four gentlemen play rural and country rock, sometimes with a tip of the hat to Poco. Fiddle, banjo and steel guitar all get their turn, but the edgiest cuts like «Living In Love» feature tough electric guitar ala Joshua (the vocal harmonies are often very similar to Joshua as well). Good original songwriting and rural vibes on tracks like «Born Again» and «Love The Lord». Also covers of «Farther Along», «How Great Thou Art» (served country style), «What A Friend» and «I Saw The Light». Brass backing on a couple tracks. Based out of Indianapolis, Indiana. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th Edition]
