Consider These Words…

Description

Consider These Words… is the sole album by the American folk-rock band Selah featuring Paul Virgilio, released on Almond Tree Records in 1975. The album was recorded by Ron Solomon at Jewel Recording Studios in Mt. Healthy, Ohio; with Ted Ferrell producing. Arranged by Paul Vergilio who also wrote or co-wrote all songs except “Silently” written by another band member, Kristina Linder.

This is the Selah with Paul Vergilio from the Way International. He’s also got a solo album on the Almond Tree label where he cuts loose with some fairly blistering tracks. Some of that rugged garage angle carries over here as well, especially on the hard-rocking «Romans 10.9». A couple songs from the Vergilio LP are also covered here: «Jesus Christ My Lord And Savior» receives a slowed-down interpretation, while «There’s A Place» is given more of a dreamy rural twist. Most of Selah’s sound can be summed up as pleasant soulful electric folk-rock and ballads, sometimes with summery string arrangements. Kristina Linder’s occasional lead vocals are a nice touch. Look out for that wild colorful psychedelic cover. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
