Description
Jumping in the House of God II is an album project by (members of) the British electronic dance music combo The World Wide Message Tribe (according to the cover it is done by ‘Various Artists’, but none is actually specified), independently released in the UK on Movation in 1996. Also released (featuring a different tracklist) on Warner Alliance in the US, a division of Warner Bros. Records, a Time Warner Company. The album was produced and mixed by Zarc Porter at Perfect Music Studios in Manchester, England.
Let’s be absolutely honest, Volume 1 had some wonderful stuff but it was a little cheesy taking Kendricks and all and stripping them down to be turned into something danceable. Here production maestro Zarc Porter has still kept a little of the souped up choruses concept for Volume 2 – namely Jim Overton «I Believe In Jesus» (it’s even called the Cheese Monster Mix!) and Shine doing «Jesus Name Above All Names». But elsewhere this really takes praise and worship into breathtaking new territory no more so than in the stunning «Kik-Start» where over a frantic World Wide Message Tribe groove deejay Cameron Dane leads the listener into a hand clapping, foot stomping, body grooving celebration. Deejay-led worship seems a natural succession of where the Tribe and their Planet Life celebrations have been heading and I suspect we’ll be hearing many more in the future. After this blistering start the pace doesn’t let up with HOG’s Justin and the Tribe’s Heavyfoot swapping raps in «Jumping In The House Of God». Then for the third killer track we have «The Real Thing», pulled as a single radio promo at Christmas and with one of the most infectious hooks ever to emerge from Manchester’s finest. The clubbers of the parish aren’t left out. Five of the cuts are given radical remixes – I particularly liked «Real Thing (Loose Canon Mix)» so you’ve got a Sanctified Seque running in a total of 22 mins 52 sees. You’re exceedingly unlikely to hear a more radical worship album this year as yet again those Manchester musicianaries and all their contributing friends kik-start the church into today’s dance culture.
