Description
Resonate is the sophomore studio album by the American contemporary worship band Sonicflood, released on INO Records in 2001, distributed by Word Entertainment. The album was produced by John Jaszcz and John Lawry (the latter of Petra fame).
I didn’t want to start this review with more comments about the appalling behind-the-scenes wrangles surrounding Sonicflood (oops, I’ve done it!). Here’s another digression before I get to the review proper: how on earth can the label not bother to credit the rather good female vocalist featured on Doerksen’s «I Lift My Eyes Up» yet feel that we need information like who does the band’s hair and makeup? Concerning the music, there are a couple of bright spots, ex-Petra man’s programming on Kevin Prosch’s «Lord Of The Dance» opener is funkily effective, while the title track has just gone on the UCB Europe playlist. But too much else here sounds like an average American rock band performing covers of well known worship songs. The sparkle, along with the original band members, seems to have departed Sonicflood.
