Description
Reignite is the third studio album by the American techno group Prodigal Sons, released on N*Soul Music in 2000, distributed in the CBA by Diamante Music Group. Also distributed by Navarre Corporation. All songs written and produced group member by Greg Hobgood during 1998-2000. “Prosperity Tweakers” remixed by Kaboing (Ian & Blake Potter). Remix co-produced by Brandon Chynoweth and Tim Trail. (Background vocals by Elaina Ferguson. Vocals on the very last track by Claudia Hobgood.)
Ethnic drums give way to more electronic sounds and then the drum machine crashes in. We then move into a dreamy ambient mix. Pumping tacks and jangling percussion will keep you moving all night long to this creative swirl of dance styles. There are some beautiful sounds here that you can just let trickle through your brain. Why not let the pulse and vibes consume you and carry you off to another world as you meditate on these sounds? And if you listen carefully and you will hear pop and classical influences come through underneath the dance beat. Personally, I felt the few samples of prayers and preaching that appeared on one track distracted a little from the overall effect. One or two were fine, but I wondered if some didn’t sound a bit clichéd and judgmental. But the screeches and cries, vocals and effects on the other tracks more than made up for this. Brilliant.
