Fire in My Soul is the debut album by the American singer and songwriter Michael Gonzales, released on Instant Joy Records in 1980, distributed by Sonrise Mercantile Company. The album was recorded at Excalibur Studios in Sherman Oaks and Devonshire Studios and Mama Jo’s Recording Studio in North Hollywood, California; with David Diggs producing for Instant Joy Production. Mixed at Devonshire Sound and Mama Jo’s. Engineered by Terry Rangno, Mike Easley, John Hoier, and Billy Taylor. Arranged and conducted by Diggs. All songs written by Michael Gonzales except track B1 written by Bill Champlin and track B4 co-written by David Diggs and Erick Nelson.

Featuring Michael Gonzales on lead vocals as well as percussion, backed by producer David Diggs on keyboards, guitar, and percussion, Bud Nuanez and Ken Wild on guitar and bass respectively (both of Seawind fame), Dennis Belfield on bass, and Willie Ornelas on drums. Brass provided by Steve Madaio (trumpet and flugelhorn), Ron King (trumpet and flugelhorn), Jim Coile (saxophones), and Bill Reichenbach (trombone). Backing vocals provided by Bob Carlisle, Joyce Everson, Shawn Engemann, Karen Wright, Millie Juarez, as well as Michael Gonzales. Also featuring Ron Strauss String Section.
