Description
The Holy Land is a concept album, the third gospel album, and eighteenth album overall, by the American singer and songwriter Johnny Cash, released on Columbia Records in January 1969. The album was recorded in Israel at: the Church of the Pater Noster, the Sea of Galilee, the Garden of Gethsemane, the City of Bethlehem, the Wailing Wall and throughout the Holy Land. Engineered by Charlie Bragg with Bob Johnston producing. Cash mixes many self-penned country/gospel songs with a recorded narrative account of a trip he took with his wife June Carter to the Holy Land. All tracks written by Johnny Cash except tracks A11, B6, and B1 (“Daddy Sang Bass” written by Carl Perkins, the big hit of this album).
