Foy Vance with the Ulster Orchestra: Live at the Waterfront, Belfast

Description

Foy Vance with the Ulster Orchestra: Live at the Waterfront, Belfast is a live CD-EP by the Northern Irish singer and songwriter Foy Vance, released on Wurdamouth Records in November 2009.

Viewers of Grey’s Anatomy and those who have listened to any of the accompanying soundtracks will be familiar with the sound of Foy Vance. The difference here is a stunning performance of five songs accompanied by Ulster’s 70-piece Symphony Orchestra. Each of the songs on ‘Live At The Waterfront, Belfast’ provides a unique insight into a unique performer. The tracks are something of an aural sandwich or a feast for the ears, whichever you prefer. The top slice: «Gabriel And The Vagabond» is Foy’s best known work, a poetic piece about a supernatural encounter with a tramp. The bottom slice: «Indiscriminate Act Of Kindness», is a little over six minutes of a performance that leaves you wishing you’d seen and heard the whole thing live. This is a great introduction to Foy’s music. Do try and see this man in concert. In the meantime, let this EP whet your appetite. [Pete Townsend, Cross Rhythms, December 2010]
