Description
No Shadow of Turning is an instrumental album the American singer, songwriter, keyboardist and producer Jeff Johnson with Sandy Simpson, Dieter Zander and Kathy McClatchy, released on Meadowlark Records in 1985, manufactured, marketed and distributed by Sparrow Records. The album was recorded from the Spring of 1983 through the Winter of 1984 by Jeff Johnson at The Ark in Camano Island, Washington; and was produced by Johnson with Sandy Simpson, Dieter Zander and Kathy McClatchy. Mixed by Jeff Johnson and Sandy Simpson. “Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation, or shadow of turning.” James 1:17
The album is part of the Meadowlark Series, a series of contemplative instrumental albums launched by Sparrow Records in late 1985, sub-titled “Music without words for thoughts without limits” and later ammended to “Music for your personal retreat“.

“The music on this album,” Jeff Johson explains, “is a combination of some of my own instrumental compositions, along with pieces by guitarist Sandy Simpson, pianist Dieter Zander and Celtic harpist/flutist Kathy McClatchy. Its diversity creates a very satisfying musical journey.”
In his private moments, you might find this pianist/synthesizer player listening to Bruce Cockburn, Peter Gabriel or Pat Metheny. But “Quiet doesn’t always come easy these days for any of us,” he concludes.
