Description
The self-titled debut album by the American alternative rock band Imagine This was released on Essential Records in 1994. The album was produced and recorded by band member Daryl Youngblood with Robert Beeson of Uthanda fame co-producing. Mixed by Youngblood and Jeff Deverter.
Imagine This features Daryl Youngblood (later of Lloyd fame) on lead and backing vocals, lead and rhythm guitars, as well as nylon string guitars; Trey Hebert on lead and backing vocals, as well as rhythm guitars; Tambri Hunt on keyboards and backing vocals, as well as programing; Ahmed Montgomery on bass, as well as rap vocals; and Rick Weinland on drums and percussion, as well as rap vocals.
Yep, another hot new American band. No particular stylistic focus, there are White Heart arena rock anthems, R&B-influenced rock dance, a psychedelic harmoniser («Now Is The Time») and «God» which has a nice line in King’s X/Beatles harmonies. But there’s such a tight production sound (take a bow Daryl E Youngblood) and so many hooks in the songwriting that the casual listener will surely be drawn in. My favourite cut at the moment is «Feel The Heat» with a loud groove and a rap delivery while the «Revolution» cut is clearly made for maximum radio. [Tony Cummings, Cross Rhythms, August 1994]
