Description
Good News II is the sophomore album by the American band Good News, released on Sonrise Mercantile in 1977. The album was recorded by Billy Taylor, Jim Neil, and band member David Diggs at Mama Jo’s Recording Studio in North Hollywood, California; and at Instant Joy Studios; with Diggs producing for Instant Joy Productions. There was a previous self-titled album released by the band, and a couple of songs as well appeared on early Maranatha! Music compilations as part of the Maranatha! Series.
Keith Green joins the lineup on keyboards while Erick Nelson exits on this less common but equally good follow-up. Greater jazz influences surface this time, including horn arrangements and saxophone solos on a couple cuts. Two songs written by Keith («Run To The End Of The Highway», «Everybody’s Talkin’ ‘Bout Love»), the rest by David Diggs, Bob Carlisle, Bill Batstone and Erick Nelson. Slick Diggs guitar solos on the sunny «Wait For The Day» and the synth-funky «Ride Along Rider». Stirring dreamy acoustic mood to «Lord, We Feel Your Presence».
