Hard Love is the sixth studio album by the American alternative rock band NEEDTOBREATHE, released on Atlantic Records in 2016, a Warner Music Group Company. The album was recorded at Germano Studios and Night Fox Studio in New York City, New York; and at Plantation Studios (the home studios of Needtobreathe) in Charleston, South Carolina; and was produced by the band, with some tracks co-produced by: Jon Levine (tracks 2 and 5), Dave Tozer (tracks 3, 4, 7, and 10), and Ed Cash (tracks 5, 11, and 12), except track 6 produced by Ido Zmishlany only. Mixed by Robert Orton. All songs written by the Rinehart brothers, with some tracks co-written by: Dave Tozer (tracks 3 and 7), Ed Cash (track 5), Ido Zmishlany (tracks 5 and 6), Whitney Phillips (track 6), and Luke Laird (track 10).

NEEDTOBREATHE features Bear Rinehart on lead vocals, guitar, slide guitar, ukulele, and synthesizer; Bo Rinehart on guitar, mandola, synthesizer, and background vocals (as well as programming); Seth Bolt on bass, synthesizer, percussion, and and background vocals (as well as drum programming); and Josh Lovelace on piano, organ, synthesizer, and background vocals.

Hard Love debuted at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart and at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200. The album won a Dove in the Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year category at the Gospel Music Association’s 48th Annual GMA Dove Awards, held on October 17, 2017, and “Hard Love (feat. Lauren Daigle)” won a Dove in the Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year category as well. (The track was also featured on the multi-artist soundtrack The Shack (Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture).)
