Description
1 Step Closer is the solo debut album by the Norwegian singer and songwriter Dag Lauvland, released on WEA Records in 1989. The album features some of the most renowned Norwegian session musicians back in the day, including Lava drummer Per Hillestad and guitar legend Marius Müller who also produced with a pristine sound. 1 Step Closer delivers uber polished tunes mixing poppy lite AOR, West Coast and a pinch of Hi-tech. All songs written by Dag Lauvland.
Kristiansand-based Dag Lauvland started his career in the mid-Seventies as member of Rock Shelter and worked as session musician and songwriter during the next decade. He was also a member of Envegskjøring who released their sole full-length album Sørlandsrock in 1980. In 1994 Lauvland (in co-operation with Geir Jensen) released a final album entitled Beat on Norsk Plateproduksjon under the moniker Tall Trees.

Note: Simultaneously released on cassette, 12-inch vinyl LP and CD by WEA, the CD version featuring “All There Is To It” (5:15) as a bonus track. Two vinyl singles were released as well. “Back To Original” was released as a 7-inch vinyl single by WEA in 1989 (b/w “I Wanna Be Your Lover”, both were album tracks). As well “Stay Inside You” was released as a 7-inch vinyl single by WEA the same year (b/w “All There Is To It”, the A-side an album track while the B-side was a track featured on the CD only).
