Description
Acoustic Worship 1: Take Us to the River is a multi-artist project put together by Worship Together and manufactured and released on Sparrow Records in 2000, distributed by Chordant Distribution Group. The album was recorded at Neverland and Earful Sound with Derri Daugherty of The Choir fame and John Hartley of Phil and John fame producing.
A follow-up album entitled Acoustic Worship 2: We Bow Down was released the same year.
At first glance this appears to be a shop window for worshiptogether.com by taking classic UK worship songs from the last 15 years and introducing them to the USA. On closer inspection we find an album of quality musicianship and masterful production. Derald Daugherty (The Choir, Lost Dogs) sings, strums and produces, aided by our own John Hartley (Phil & John). Throw in Phil Madeira who soaks the album in B3 and accordion and we have a dream worship band. «For The Cross» gets the most beautiful treatment, oldies like «Jesus, We Celebrate» and «You Laid Aside» are totally refreshed.
