Counting By Heads is the sole album by the Canadian power pop project The Obvious, self-released on Slipp Discs in 1992. (In 1996 Liquid Disc re-released this album under the One Hundred Days moniker, slightly modified and featuring new cover artwork.) The album was recorded during 1991-92 by Andrew Horrocks at Cedartree Recording Studio in Kitchener/Ontario, Canada; with band members Horrocks and Ian Tanner producing for TanRocks Productions. Additional engineering by Darren Walters, Ian Tanner, and Pug. Mixed by Andrew Horrocks and Ian Tanner. All songs composed and arranged by Horrocks and Tanner (except track 6).

Featuring Andrew Horrocks on lead and backing vocals, as well as guitar and percussion; with Ian Tanner providing lead and backing vocals, as well as keyboards, bass, and percussion (both were former members of The Awakening). Also featuring Glenn Teeple on guitar and Steve Marsh on drums, both of élim Hall fame.

Andrew Horrocks and Ian Tanner were former members of The Awakening, a band that released three albums (including two for the American major label Reunion Records). After The Awakening broke up in 1989, Andrew Horrocks and Ian Tanner began writing and recording songs for some future project. In 1990, they had a new band called Echo Park. After the original Counting By Heads was completed, the band Echo Park broke up. The drummer thought this was going to be a live gigging band, but at the time they were mostly a studio band. Thus, Echo Park was reduced to Andrew and Ian. Shortly thereafter, Gord Stevenson joined the band on drums, and that’s when The Obvious was born. Andrew and Ian shopped this original CD to American record companies, and a few years later, they got signed to Liquid Disc Records and began recording a new album for release in 1995, this time under the moniker One Hundred Days.
