Description
Send Me is the sophomore major label album by the Ugandan born, British based R&B/hip-hop trio Limit X, released on N*Soul Records in 1997, distributed in the US by Diamante Music Group. Also released in the UK by Alliance Music. The album was produced by Limit X, Scott Blackwell, Keith Robertson, and Mike Sechrest.
Featuring Dennis Sempebwa, Isaac Rucibigango, and Paul Mutebi.
Limit X put together a selection of songs, which display a variety of influences and styles from the strongly African (in the title track «Send Me» and «Abba Father» – a song based on the Lord’s Prayer) through calypso, reggae, rap, soul and even acapella («Never The Same» and «Nina Eddembe», the latter song entirely in Swahili – I think!). The three lads who make up Limit X also combine styles really well within songs such as «Together» which features a meaty “ragamuffin” style rap, along with the infectious «J.E.S.U.S.». The final track «Vunja» is an irresistible African celebration of the fact Satan is defeated but, for me anyway is slightly marred lyrically (“Satan is sick little punk/ Weak little fool…”) as Jude 8-10 charges us not to speak slanderously/abusively of celestial beings, or am I being over sensitive? Anyways, whilst the more soulful numbers on the album I feel are a little ordinary, the rest more than make up for this in sheer originality and overall give the album a strong replay appeal.
