Love Offering is the second collaborative praise & worship project by the British singers/songwriters Dave Pope and John Daniels, released on Kingsway Music in 1981.

The previous year Pope and Daniels had released Thank Offering on the emergent Chapel Lane label, run by Rob Andrews. It quickly became the best selling Christian album in the UK. It’s blend of tender devotional balladry, classy keyboard lines and largely John Daniels originals (plus a couple of covers of Graham Kendrick and David Meece) found a receptive audience with the Spring Harvest throng. The following year Pope and Daniels released ‘Love Offering’ on Kingsway Music that turned out to become a major sales success as well. Dave Pope was by now an omnipresent worship leader at Spring Harvest.

In 1983 the album ‘Living Sacrifice: Songs of Living Faith‘ was released with the rather unwieldy artist credits Saltmine Band, Dave Pope, Chris Eaton and Friends. It was recorded at Pace Studios, Milton Keynes, and was produced by keyboardist Chris Eaton of Mark Williamson Band – who had gigged regularly with Pope while a teenager. The album features a variety of worship songs from the UK (Marilyn Baker’s «Jesus You Are Changing Me» and «The Truth, The Life, The Way» by Keith Routledge of Meet Jesus Music fame) and the US (Amy Grant‘s «Mountain Top» and Laurie Klein’s «I Love You Lord»). Pope told Buzz magazine at the time of its release, “It’s been done with a very small budget compared with my previous albums but the end result is one I am excited about. It’s important on a worship album to get what I call a ‘Spirit-filled groove’.”

But it was Dave Pope’s solo album ‘Taste and See‘, produced by Chris Eaton, which was possibly Pope’s best recorded work since his 1978 release ‘Sail Away‘. Recorded at Chapel Lane Studios it featured several of Eaton’s songs as well as covers of US acts like Michael Card and Gary Chapman.
