Description
Khool Praize is a multi-artist urban dance project released on Arcade Records in May 1992, a sub-label of The Corinthian Group, distributed by Benson Music Group. The album was recorded and mixed by Jeff Dykhouse with Bill Batstone producing. Arranged by Jeff Lams.
To be honest, when I put my copy of ‘Khool Praize’ in the CD player I did not know what to expect. The album is a compilation of songs written and recorded by various artists. «Victory Chant», sung by Heather and Kirsten, is a brilliant combination of a multilayered sound and a strong vocal which really makes it into a victory chant. The fresh and exciting reggae sound of «Everything’s Gonna Be Alright In Christ» really worked! With lyrics such as “When you need a hand to hold… Take his word and fill your soul/ Everything’s gonna be alright in Christ”, the song was truly uplifting. However, the album does not only contain ‘praize’ songs. There is also a more worshipful side to the collection. Case in hand, I found the song «Lord I Lift Your Name On High» simply beautiful. For me, it was the simple lyrics which made the song so powerful and effective. I was surprised by ‘Khool Praize’! There are styles of music to suit all tastes from roots to rap. Yet what pleased me most was the fact that ‘Khool Praize’ was not just another praise album. It provides praise and worship that is ‘khool’ AND useable, something which I believe is hard to achieve. This album is not only brilliant, it’s inspiring. I was really encouraged by what I heard and frankly, I can’t fault it! [Debbie Edington, Cross Rhythms, August 1993]
