Johnny Respect – Blue Collar Moxy

Description

Blue Collar Moxy is the full-length debut album by the American alternative rock band Johnny Respect, released on Bulletproof Music in 1997, a division of Gray Dot, distributed by Diamante. The album was produced, recorded, and mixed during the summer of 1997 by J.C. Richardson at 360 Studios in Norcross, Georgia, with the band co-producing.

In a word, refreshing! Amongst the myriad of over produced albums that have hit the shelves in recent years, it is good to find bands who refuse to have their rawer edge blunted by over zealous producers. Johnny Respect is one such band. The band play unapologetically raw energetic punk rock. Produced by the band and one JC Richardson, ‘Blue Collar Moxy’ brims full of tight musicianship, superb vocal deliveries from both Johnny and Phil, underpinned by a cool pop vibe that is by no means out of place. All four band members play extremely well together, enhancing the sheer enjoyment factor for those who venture a spin. Coupled with intelligent lyrics, honestly braving faithful insights into everyday life. Johnny Respect are worth investigating. These boys sure do have a lot of Moxy! Excellent. [Alex Figgis, Cross Rhythms, February 1999]
