Description

Mindsize is the major label debut album by the American alternative rock band Poor Old Lu, released on Alarma Records in 1993, a division of Frontline Music Group, distributed by Diamante Distribution. The album was produced by Terry Taylor of Daniel Amos fame and mixed by Derri Daugherty of The Choir. Remastered and re-issued in October 2019 by Lo-Fidelity ‎Records featuring 9 bonus tracks.

‘Mindsize’ is the first release on the rejuvenated Alarma! imprint, and the major label debut for this young Seattle band (which takes it name from C.S. Lewis’ ‘The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe’.) Produced by Terry Taylor, the album mixes modern grunge influences with ’60s and ’70s psychedelic overtones; an interesting combination, since its members are not yet out of their teens! Vocalist Scott Hunter shows a lot of imagination in his lyrics as well – “I can feel it inside/ And in his side/ And I’ll tell you what I see/ But first I must fall down on my knees” (from «Somtimes Cry») – is one example. If these guys maintain their enthusiasm for God and playing music, there’s no telling how good they could become. An auspicious debut for a group of any age. [Bruce A. Brown, CCM, December 1993]
