Description
Into the Night is a live album by the American blues singers and songwriters Darrell Mansfield, Larry Howard, and Glenn Kaiser (the latter of Resurrection Band fame), independently released on Grrr Records in January 1995.
This 72-minute disc captures about one-fourth of the 1994 Cornerstone Festival Blues Jam, and this particular slab is hotter than Texas chili! Once again, the key players are Larry, Darrell and their other brother, Kaiz. Besides outstanding harp work by Mansfield and the expected guitar excellence from Howard and Kaiser, REZ guitar whiz Stu Heiss also offers some sizzling licks. Glenn reprises three tracks from that album, including the bracing «If I Leave This World Tomorrow», while Mansfield’s «Million Dollar Feelin’» and Howard’s solemn «I Found Out» are also especially tasty. But what really distinguishes this collection from other live sessions the trio has released is the excellent support from Chicago studio veterans Oscar Seaton (drums), Chuck Webb (bass), Percy Bady (keys), and Steve Eisen (sax); Webb and Seaton previously backed Kaiz on his scintillating Spontaneous Combustion album.
