Description
Sanctified Blues is the solo debut album by the American singer, songwriter, and blues guitarist Larry Howard, released on Refuge Records in 1986. The album was recorded by Pat McMakin at The Sound Shop in Nashville, Tennessee; by Paul Hornsby at Muscadine Studio in Macon, Georgia; and by Steve Melton at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios in Sheffield, Alabama; with Randy McCormick, Bucky Jones, Gary F. Montgomery, and Larry Howard producing.
Larry Howard (1950 – February 10, 2017) studied classical music and received trombone lessons from Count Basie’s Jazz Clinic before turning to guitar. Throughout the 1970s he played in the Capricorn-signed Southern rock band Grinderswitch, toured with rock icons the Allman Brothers and with country man Charlie Daniels. Called “a pioneer of Christian blues” by The Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music.
