Description
Dreamin’ is the eighth album by the American singer and songwriter Reba Rambo, released on Greentree Records in 1980, a division of The Benson Company. The album was recorded at Sound Stage Studios in Nashville, Tennessee; with by Phil Johnson and Dony McGuire producing. All songs co-written by Reba Rambo.
Dreamin’ is Reba Rambo’s fourth major solo release on Greentree and in many respects may be her best. Produced by Phil Johnson and co-produced by Dony McGuire, the album seems to have a more clearcut purpose and direction than some of Reba’s earlier efforts; and it is as satisfying musically as anything she has done yet.
«Dressing Room Sketch», a long, nearly 11-minute segment of music and dialogue, is alone worth the price of the album. In it, Reba exposes her feelings about her “shortcomings” and shares her fears about performing. The cut is Reba at her most transparent, and very eloquently reveals the honest thoughts of many performers (“You’ve got all them; You can’t need me”). She works through her insecurities in a dialogue with ‘God’ (played by Don Butler), emerging with the victorious finale, “I really think I can do it; Believing in You has convinced me… You need me.”
Also included in the album is «Here Today, Gone Tomorrow», which first appeared on the Rambo’s Crossin’ Over album, and «Lead Us Not Into Temptation» from the forthcoming musical, The Lord’s Prayer. «Steppin’ High» will be a favorite if you like some get-down funk.
