Description
Beside the Still Waters is the sole album by the American folk/pop group The Accompany, released on Creative Message in 1974.
A few definitely worthwhile gems can be gleaned from this male/female Seattle band’s we’re-happy Children Of The Day-ish folkrock/light-rock custom. The atmospheric title ballad is the powerful standout track, featuring wah-wah guitar, floating harmonies, a fuzz guitar solo, and the sound of gently crashing waves in the background. Pleasant acoustic moods are explored on «Folk Psalm #1». Good light-hearted but bluesy rock-n-roll on «Sold Out (For My Jesus)», starting out slow, then picking up steam with some bangin’ piano before slowing down again. That «Shaft»-like electric rhythm guitar on Larry Norman’s «Forget Your Hexagram» is sure to put a grin on your face. Also includes average covers of Children Of The Day’s «A New Life», The Way’s «You’re Caught In A World», Ralph Carmichael’s «The New 23rd» and Paul Johnson’s «In My Father’s House», the latter two done a cappella.
