Son of David

Description

Son of David is the sole album by the American singer and songwriter Larry McHugh, independently released in 1978. The album was recorded November 1977 by Jeff Ziv and Glenn Goss at “Hey, Come!” Studio in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Son Of David is a lovely recording of dreamy lyrical electric soft rock. Larry’s guitar work is excellent throughout, often echoing the flowing atmospheric quality of Phil Keaggy on What A Day. Light progressive influences surface on selections like «New Song», «Noah», «Waters Of Life» and the title track, while others are graced with artsy soft-jazz flourishes (like the irresistibly smooth-grooved «Glory To The Lord»). Some of the quieter acoustic material basks in a gentle melodic folk-psych warmth akin to Harvest Flight (Larry’s soothing vocals even hear some passing resemblance to Evan Williams). All eleven songs written by Larry. Custom-made recording from Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Cover has a simple attractive b&w line drawing of Christ in the clouds. A beautiful work of art.
