Description
Live in Sweden with Choralerna is the fifth album by the American gospel singer and songwriter Danniebelle Hall of Andraé Crouch & The Disciples fame, together with the Swedish gospel choir Choralerna, released on Sparrow Records in both the US and the UK in 1978, and as well in Sweden on the gospel label Signatur. The live album was recorded during concerts in two Swedish cities, Göteborg and Jönkjöping, and was recorded by Alan Perkins using Manor Mobile (a mobile recording studio) with Bill Maxwell producing. Mixed by Maxwell and Gordon Shryock at MCA Whitney Recording Studios in Glendale, California.
The live recording features Danniebelle Hall on piano, backed by a Swedish session band featuring Peter Sandwall on piano and Hammond organ, Glen Myerscough on saxophone, Håkan Mjörnheim on guitar, and a rhythm section consisting of Sam Bengtsson on bass and Per Lindvall on drums with Thomas Opava providing percussion. The gospel choir Choralerna was conducted by Lars Brandström.
The album track “The Lord Is My Light” was as well featured on Sparrow Spotlight Sampler, a multi-artist compilation released by Sparrow Records in 1978.
Trivia: Danniebelle Hall’s recording of Dottie Rambo’s “I Go to the Rock” was the template for Whitney Houston’s recording of the song on the soundtrack for The Preacher’s Wife, the best-selling gospel album of all time.
