Description
Taylor Made is the debut album by the American singer and songwriter Danny Taylor (October 28, 1944 – January 15, 2010), independently released on Jubal Records in 1971.
In the spring of 1969 Danny Taylor began a full time music ministry. Taylor was part of the Love Inn Community in New York together with such figures as Phil Keaggy, Phil Madeira, Lynn Nichols, Peter York, and Scott & Nedra Ross. Danny also became a spokesman of sorts for Jesus Music and wrote a monthly column for a while in Harmony Magazine (the forerunner to CCM Magazine).
He’s the Taylor of the Matthews, Taylor and Johnson LP on NewPax as well as a prominent spokesman from the early Jesus Music scene (he had a column in Harmony magazine called Tuning Up). His custom debut Taylor Made is a blend of folk, rock, country, pop, and ballads – a decent album not unlike early Mike Johnson. Features Danny on voice, rhythm guitar, piano, drums, flutes and vibes, plus supporting musicians and occasional string or bass backing. Side two is especially strong with some intriguing minor-key sounds in «How ‘Bout You» and «Good Morning Neighbor» and «The Eyes Of The Saint» also stand out with their crisp electric folk/pop melodies.
