Sonny Salsbury’s Reflection

Description

Sonny Salsbury’s Reflection is an album by the American songwriter Sonny Salsbury with The Reflection, released on Word Records in 1971 in both the US and the UK. The album was recorded and mixed by Frank Kejmar at Whitney Recording Studio in Glendale, California; with Fred Bock producing. Arranged by Clark Gassman, with Bock and Sonny Salsbury providing the vocal arrangements. All songs written by Sonny Salsbury. (Trivia: Sonny Salsbury is the brother of Ron Salsbury of the J.C. Power Outlet fame.)

It’s a difficult thing to put your finger on a feeling. But there’s a definite feeling to this album. I think it’s because REFLECTION has captured what so many other groups have aimed at lately – the magic combination of music and message that satisfies not only kid’s music devotees, but people who want a total experience – a feeling.

Yeah! REFLECTION has done it because they care about what they’re saying. They’ve gone to the trouble to take some good music and make it better. Have you ever listened to rock and wished it had more of this or less of that or just “something”? Well – this is rock and it has that “something.” Why? Because REFLECTION, after a successful first release, has kept going. Too many times a group will copy itself over and over – which usually ends up in a dead-end of mediocrity, definitely a bad scene. That’s what REFLECTION hasn’t done, and that’s why you’ll like this record – same group as before but one that has kept going.

There is powerful music herein – good honest licks of expression that say “We are going somewhere and we dig it.” Maybe, through this combination of a statement that really says something and some music that verifies it – mayby they’ve said it better than it’s ever been said before.
