Description
The self-titled album by the American folk-rock band Charity was released on Gospel Jubilee Productions in 1975. The album was recorded by Ron Compton at Fanfare Studios in El Cajon, California. All songs written by Gus Carrillo except track B2 co-written with Ed Burnett as well as the title track written by Kenn Gulliksen.
Another class act in the homemade jangly guy/gal electric folkrock department that you can proudly file next to The Bridge (with whom they share a similar sound). Dreamy acoustic atmosphere overlaid with flute and recorder, precious ethereal harmonies and some nice lead electric guitar that includes some friendly fuu and other effects here and there. Indeed I wouldn’t be surprised to see some call this “folk/psych”. Also some more upbeat rurally-minded tracks. Same label as fellow Californians SoulPurpose. Excellent cover too – a colored pencil ocean scene with breaking wave and image of Christ in the clouds. I’m touched.[Ken Scott, The Archivist]
