Description
Have You Heard is the fourth studio album by the American singer and songwriter Barry McGuire, released on Sparrow Records in 1977. The album was recorded by Larry Emerine and Randy Cox at Quad Teck Studios and Studio 55 in Los Angeles, California; with Billy Ray Hearn producing. Mixed by Emerine at Studio 55. Strings arranged by Jimmy Owens.
Barry’s edge frequently gets smoothed over on this mellow outing, mainly from Jimmy Owens’ string arrangements along with the gospel backing of the Shirley Matthews Singers. Includes songs written by Wendell Burton («Good Old Gospel Feelin»), Dogwood’s Steve Chapman («Sometime Someplace»), Nutshell’s Paul Field («Light Of The World»), Shiloh’s Dennis MacIntosh («There Is A Place», «My Lord») and Barry’s («Communion Song»). Also a few written by Mike Deasy, including «Chubby Chubby», the song about the Christian who was spiritually “too fat to fly” at the Lord’s return. Many of the same participants as C’Mon Along, including Deasy on guitars, mandolin and dobro. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
