Ye Olde London Bus

Description

Ye Olde London Bus, sub-titled Special Souvenir Album featuring from England ten favourite Gospel Music Ministries, is a multi-artist compilation released on Musical Gospel Outreach (MGO) in 1975. (“Musical Gospel Outreach is a trans-denomination youth organisation serving to channel a wide variety of musical and evangelistic ministries to areas of need in Churches and communities throughout the UK and other parts of Europe.“)

“Ye olde London bus Christian book shop & boutique” is a souvenir record pressed in the UK on Dove and also released in the states to offer a highlight of Christian groups across the pond. The album includes 10 artists, Len Magee, Kevin Gould, Canaan, Advocates, 11:59, Graham Kendrick, Elim Singers, Gwen Murray, Lois Buckley, as well as Sweden’s Choralerna, all with album releases of their own either on Key Records or on Dovetail. (During the 1960s music had become an important evangelistic tool in the white churches as well as the black ones, and various organizations had sprung up to promote it. Musical Gospel Outreach – MGO – established in the UK in 1965, had its own label called Key Records, and later established Dovetail as well. Those eventually became Kingsway Music.)
