Description
Peace is the debut album by the American singer and songwriter Rick Eldridge, released on Herald Records in 1975. The album was recorded and mixed by Dave Reddick at Mark Five Studios in Greenville, South Carolina; with Erv Lewis producing. String arrangements by Joe Huffman. Songs written by Rick Eldridge and Erv Lewis, except “I Wish We’d All Been Ready”, a song written by Larry Norman.
Rick Eldridge is backed by a session band featuring Lari Goss on acoustic and electric piano, Mitch Humphries on acoustic piano, organ, bells, and synthesizer, Joe Robins on mellotron, Bill Huffman and Mack Sanders on acoustic and electric guitars, Steve Mauldin on bass, and Buster Phillips on drums. Strings provided by The Mark Five String Ensemble.
Same kind of deal on this one, Rick’s first LP. Mostly “that CCM sound” but rocks fairly decently on «Peace Won’t Come», and to a lesser extent on «His Light Still Shines». Best track is the mellotron-enhanced «Six Sixty Six», an unusual end-times piece with eerie chants of “six-sixty-six” that meld into a cover of Larry Norman’s «Wish We’d All Been Ready». Most songs written by Rick or producer Erv Lewis. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
