That They May Be One

Description

That They May Be One, sub-titled Songs of Covenant Love and Joy, is an album by the American folk group God Unlimited (The God Unlimited Singers, an outreach of the Alleluia Community), self-released on their own label GU in 1976. The album was recorded by Bruce Dees at International Studio in North Augusta, South Carolina; with Rev. Tom Belt producing.

That They May Be One consists mostly of choral folk/praise selections. Unfortunately the unison singing tends to be rather bland and the songwriting not as inspired as in the past. I would say they’re at least still on par here with groups like The Fisherfolk. «Jesus, Teach Me How To Love» is a nice piano-backed ballad that features solo female vocals. «When Led By The Spirit» also has an appealing minor-key acoustic mood. Subtitled Songs Of Covenant Love and Joy. The back cover identifies the group being based out of Faith Village in Augusta, Georgia as part of a charismatic covenant community called the Alleluia Community.
