Description
The self-titled album by the American country rock trio Zechariah was released on New Leaf Music in 1977. The album was engineered by Don Horst at The King’s Place in New Providence, Pennsylvania. All songs written by Jim Stauffer except track B1 written by Ron Burkholder.
Zechariah features Jim Stauffer on guitar and vocals, Don Robbins on bass and vocals, and Ron Burkholder on mellotron, drums, and vocals. (Mellotron “flute” solo by Don Horst on track A5)
Some tasty Southern and country rock sounds coming outta this homemade goodie from the hills of eastern Pennsylvania. At their crunchiest the trio of Jim Stauffer, Ron Burkholder and Don Robbins lays hold of some of that Skynyrd slide guitar zip («Do You Remember» and «His Name Is Jesus»). On the lighter end are more acoustic oriented tracks, like the rural ballad «Movin’ On» which was featured on fellow Pennsylvanians Daybreak’s After The Rain album. More understated than ground shakers like Damascus Road and Emmaus Road Band but still nicely done. Nine songs, all self-written. [Ken Scott, The Archivist, 4th edition]
