Growing Up to be a Child – b/w “Private Life” – is a two-sided 7-inch vinyl single by the British singer Sheila Walsh, released on DJM in May 1984 (catalogue number DJS 10). The A-side was lifted from Sheila Walsh’s full-length album Triumph in the Air released on Sparrow Records the same year, recorded by Keith Bessey at at Strawberry Studios a well as Cloud 9 and Jacobs Studios in Surrey; England, with Craig Pruess producing, assisted by Bessey. “Private Life”, the flip-side, was lifted from Walsh’s full-length album Drifting released on Myrrh Records the previous year (and as well distributed by DJM into mainstream record shops in the UK), recorded by Keith Bessey at Riverside, Strawberry, Ramp and Sonoptics Studios in England, with Cliff Richard and Craig Pruess producing. Both tracks written by the British singer-songwriter Graham Kendrick.

(In November 1984 DJM released another two-sided 7-inch vinyl single by Sheila Walsh, this time featuring two non-album tracks; “His Eyes”, b/w “He Moved A Mountain”, two ballads produced and arranged by Richard Hewson. Both tracks were written by Gary Harrison, Gloria Thomas, and J. D. Martin.)
