Description
Be My Refuge is a praise & worship album by the American singer and songwriter Ted Sandquist, independently released in 1984. “The Music of Ted Sandquist. A Psalm of Life Limited Production.” Featuring artists like Phil Keaggy, Phil Madeira, and Nedra Ross.
‘Be My Refuge’ is a collection of original songs recorded in the early ’70s to play on the radio programme of pioneering deejay Scott Ross in the days when the volume of quality Christian music was much less than we have now. This album from the US-based singer, songwriter and guitarist also features the legendary Phil Keaggy. The sleevenotes admit that the songs are “a bit raw” though, to be honest, that’s probably doing them a disservice. Yes, there’s no production gloss but the quality is more than sufficient and the talent and commitment of the artists involved is evident. Some of the songs are a little prog-rock in feel and others may seem a little twee by today’s standards. However, the appeal of this groundbreaking Jesus music still shines through. This valuable CD helps chart the early history of contemporary Christian music and is a reminder that catchy melodies, whatever the genre, make good songs.
