Blenderhead – demo

Description

A 4-track cassette demo by the American alternative rock band Blenderhead was independently released on Morphine Records ‎in February 1993. The EP was recorded and mixed by Kevin Yount at The Wreck Room with the band producing. The band features Bill Power on vocals, Ed Carrigan and Eben Haase on guitars, Paul Henry on bass, and Matt Johnson on drums.

This demo is kind of where it all started for Blenderhead. I think their song «Invasion of the Body Snatchers» on an ACM compilation preceded this demo. Or maybe it came after? Anyways, this demo proved that the band had something special and different for the music world. «Let Down» and «Soapbox» were both re-recorded for their Tooth & Nail Records debut Prime Candidate for Burnout, while «Jack’s a Dull Boy» and «Dear John» were both re-recorded for the Live at the Blue Tile Lounge 7-inch (both in 1994). This demo, «Invasion», and a couple of other stray tracks were released as EP by Morphine Records in 1996. For those not familiar with Blenderhead, they were a punk / spazz / emo band that kind of came up with their own style that evolved as they went on. This is a remastered demo tape conversion by the good people at The Corral on Spin Cycle. [Matt, Christian Tape Underground, October 31, 2020]
