Description
Eclectica 2, sub-titled A Taste of Indie Electronica, is a multi-artist compilation released on N-Soul Records in 1998, distributed by Diamante Music Group. Compiled by Chris Salisbury and Phillip Kim.
E2 is a taste of the Christian electronic scene that is happening now; It is motivated by a love for music, for the people in the scene, and most of all love for Jesus Christ. E2’s goal is to let people know about independent Christian artists and their music. Most of these artists are actively touring; a few are resident DJs at local clubs. It’s not only about music for these artists. They want to spread the message of Jesus wherever they spin or perform. We need your help! We need your prayers and support. Thanks for your financial support in buying this project! Please continue to pray for these artists and for NSOUL. Support the indie artists by investing in their ministry. [Sleeve notes]
The subtitle ‘A Taste Of Indie Electronica’ gives you some idea of what to expect. There’s one gem which will already be known to British aficionados of left-of-centre rhythms – the marvellous «Reformation» by Secret Archives Of The Vatican while elsewhere there are acts known for previous N-Soul albums like Erinfall and Prophecy Of Panic (which kind of nullifies the “indie” tag) and some acts known only to devoted searchers of the internet like God Made Orange, Mint, Aunkumn Vortex and DJ Darrel (Minister Of Holy Beats). There’s everything from drum’n’bass to ambient experimentalism here. So if your tastes veer towards the further reaches of dance this import is worth searching for. [Tony Cummings, Cross Rhythms, April 1999]
