Tuesday’s Child

Description

The self-titled debut album by the American pop duo Tuesday’s Child (Linda Elias and Lesley Glassford) was released on Benson Music Group in 1995. The album was produced by Rick Elias and Bill Baumgart.

Join together the talents of Linda Elias and Lesley Glassford, Tuesday’s Child releases a respectable debut album that is filled with songs of love and commitment.

Though their individual voices may not be the strongest, producers Rick Elias and Bill Baumgart give the ladies a sound that is sweet and energetic. At times, bordering on the syrupy pop that made Debbie Gibson a household name, the songs are jammed with one inescapable hook after another.

On «Count On Me», Elias and Glassford commit being there for each other, using a language that most men will have a hard time relating to: “Can’t believe the kind of day that I’m having, think I’ll call you/ I know you’ll understand/ Phones ringing, babies crying I’m going crazy/ I just need someone to hold my hand.”

The album’s strongest cut is found in «Pilgrim», a song of unity and encouragement which talks about the comparison between English pilgrims who were bound for a faraway land and life as a believer. “We are pilgrims born for a distant shore/ As we put the shoulder to the oar/ Let us raise our sails for the great unknown/ And together we’ll find our way home.” [Mark A. Smeby, CCM, October 1995]
