Description
In Three Days is the sophomore album by the American rock band The Stand, released on Wonderland in 1992, manufactured and distributed by Word. (Wonderland was a short-lived alternative imprint of Word run by Caesar Kalinowski, who also was the mastermind behind other record labels such as Graceland and Intense.) The album was produced by Caesar and band members Tony Valenziano and Mark Robertson.
The Stand are a Chicagoan 4-piece whose previous album got a lukewarm review in CR but sounded pretty good to these old ears. An indie/alternative team, The Stand’s sound takes in bits of everything from the Ramones to a dozen Brit indie teams while Tony Valenziano has a nice line in wheezing vocals while Paz Vega’s lead guitar is cranked up enough to satisfy moshpit sensibilities. Standouts on ‘In Three Days’ were the stuttering «Billy» and a driving «(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Love, Peace And Understanding» the Nick Lowe oldie, once revived by Phil And John. If you’re into the Altar Boys brand of sanctified post-punk abrasion, check these dudes out. [Tony Cummings, Cross Rhythms, February 1993]
