Description
Ghost – an acoustic and partly instrumental effort – is the sixth album by the American singer and songwriter Roby Duke, independently released on Masali Music in September 2004.
Review disclosure: I have written and recorded with Roby Duke in the distant past. Having said that, nothing quite prepared me for how eclectic and accomplished a creation GHOST is. Understandably, it is given the “Inspirational” genre tag because of Roby’s past albums … but that can only be because no one listened to it. It CANNOT be characterized as one thing only and it is decidely not a gospel genre work. Roby has written, produced and played an exhilarating set of pieces … utilizing voices, instruments, sound effects, his own stellar guitar playing. Listen to bassist extraordinaire John Patitucci on «No One Home». Buy a couple tunes first, then come back for the whole deal! Or jump in with both feet. Let this grow on you. You’ll thank me later. – Bob Bennett
