Description
Kaleidoscope is the sophomore album by the American singer and songwriter Rachael Lampa, released on Word Entertainment in March 2002, a division of Word Music Group. The album was produced by Brown Bannister and Brent Bourgeois for A Quad B Production.
Her debut was okay but this, with some delightfully funky programming by Don Needham, some lovely little touches from Nashville’s finest (Tommy Sims – bass, Chris Rodriguez – guitar) and some excellent songs, like the lilting floater «Brand New Life» or the unashamedly radio friendly opener «Savior Song». Rachel’s vocals are far more assured than on her debut with the teenager occasionally swooping and soaring like a soul diva but also able to do the breathy ballad bit. Some may find the lyrics a bit simplistic while the insp ballad «No Greater Love» is just too OTT. But there’s no denying serious singing talent. [Tony Cummings, Cross Rhythms, March 2002]
