Description

Somethin’ Right is the debut album by then 21 year old American singer Jim Schmidt, released on Emerald Records in 1982. The album was recorded and mixed December 1982 by Billy Taylor at Mama Jo’s Recording Studio in North Hollywood, California; with Terry Winch producing and arranging.

The session band includes David Diggs on keyboards, Paul Jackson Jr. on guitars, and a rhythm section consisting of Leon Gaer and John Ferraro on bass and drums respectively. As well featuring a guest appearance by Roby Duke. Backing vocals provided by Richard Page and Steve George of Mr. Mister fame.

Includes “Promised Land” and “Surer Of Myself” written by Roby Duke, “Love Has Taken It All Away” co-written by Jim Weber and Keith Thomas, as well as “Destiny” co-written by Mark Vieha and Bob Wilson (the latter of Seawind fame), a song that also was covered by Omega Sunrise on their album Run From The Night. The track “Not Your Love Alone” is a duet with Edie Lehmann. “Serious”, co-written by Tim Hosman and Jim Schmidt, was later covered by David Dale on his 1985-album, Hide & Seek.
